Note: This course runs Mondays to Wednesdays.  The tests take place on Fridays.  At the end of your 3-day CSCS training on a Wednesday, you can choose a Friday to sit your tests.

Booking Procedure

As soon as we receive your CSCS card booking, you will be sent a booking confirmation for the CSCS course starting the nearest Monday to the date of your online booking.  If the nearest Monday is less than 7 days from the date of your online booking, we will book the next Monday for you.  However, if you have sent us an email indicating that you want to start your course as soon as possible, you will be booked for the next available Monday even if it is less than 7 days away from the date of your online booking.

What is “CSCS Card”?

CSCS stands for Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS).  The scheme aims to improve construction site workers’ competence in the workplace and to reduce accidents.

Who is eligible to apply for a CSCS green card?

Anyone interested in working in the construction industry as a labourer.  Those providing security at the construction site will also require CSCS green card to enter the construction site area.

What are the types of CSCS cards?

CSCS Cards are of different types.  Each card is colour coded to reflect the level of training, experience and qualification attainments.

Green – For Construction site labourers

Red – For Graduates, Trainees, Experienced Workers, Technicians, Supervisors or Managers

Blue – For the Level 2 NVQ/SVQ qualified in construction related area

Gold – For the Level 3 NVQ / SVQ qualified in construction related area

Black – For the Level 4 NVQ/SVQ qualified in construction related area or Managers


Why is it necessary that I hold a CSCS card?

Most building contractors and house builders require construction workers to hold a CSCS card before entering the construction site. The aim is to ensure that the construction site worker has the relevant training and qualification for the type of work they undertake.

Will I need to pass any tests to obtain CSCS card?

Yes. There are 3 steps to obtaining CSCS green card.  From 1st July 2014 any person applying for CSCS Green Card for labourers must have passed:

Step 1: Level 1 Award Health and Safety in a Construction Environment certificate exams (paper test) &

Step 2: The CITB Operatives Health, Safety and Environment test (online test)

Step 3: Apply for CSCS card

How long will the training/course last?

The course duration is 3 days.  If we think you require extra preparations before the online test, you will be advised to take 2-day extra lessons.

What qualification will I achieve at the end of the programme?

The BTEC Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment is accredited on the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF). The qualification links to achievement of the CSCS Green Card for Labourers in Construction.

How long after obtaining my Health and Safety qualifications must I apply for my CSCS card?

To apply for the card, the applicant is required to have passed a Health and Safety & Environment test within the last two years from the date of the CSCS card application.
